The Chrysalis
Rebirth in Motion
The chrysalis has always felt like such a beautiful reflection of what so many of us move through in our own lives. We tend to celebrate the butterfly, the visible transformation, the moment where everything has come together and new wings are ready to emerge Yet so much of the journey takes place before that moment ever happens.
Some of the most significant moments of growth can feel surprisingly uncertain while we are living them. Old ways of being begin to fall away, familiar identities no longer fit quite as comfortably, and something within us knows we cannot return to who we once were. Yet at the same time, what is emerging has not fully revealed itself either. We find ourselves standing in a space between what was and what will be, often without the clarity we wish we had.
I have come to feel that these seasons carry a sacredness of their own. Not because they are always easy, but because they ask something profound of us. They ask us to trust what we cannot yet see. To honor what is dissolving without rushing to replace it. To allow life to reshape us in ways that may only make sense much later.
When I look back at my own periods of transformation, they rarely felt like expansion while I was inside them. More often they felt like surrender. Like letting go. Like releasing what had once felt certain and learning to remain present in the unknown. Yet again and again, those very seasons or moments became the ground from which something new eventually emerged.
Perhaps becoming is often quieter than we imagine. Perhaps life does some of its most beautiful work beneath the surface, beyond the reach of our timelines, our plans, and our need to understand. And perhaps the invitation is not to rush toward the butterfly, but to honor the wisdom of the chrysalis while we are still within it.
🦋 May you be gentle with the parts of your life that are still unfolding and enjoy the becoming within the chrysalis.
